HAMON MARTIN QUARTET

  The French quartet is one of the very well known traditional music ensembles, which introduces a unique taste of the music of Brittany (Bretagne) region in France.


HAMON, Mathieu:

   With no doubt, Mathieu Hamon is considered as one of the most remarkable singers of Bretagne. His talent, and vocal maturity had been recognized since 1991. Winner in many vocal competitions and founder of Hamon-Martin quartet, he has performed in dozens of international festivals.




MARTIN, Janick:

   Janick Martin (1979) started music since he was 8 years old. Very soon he chose the diatonic accordion as his instrument and made rapid progresses. He played in many festival and concerts in France, UK and Ireland. Since 1996 he is teaching accordion in traditional musical schools in Bretagne. Janick is on of the founders of the famous folkband Hamon-Martin.


HAMON, Erwan:

   Erwan Hamon began music at the age of 9 by playing a traditional instrument from Bretagne called “Bombarde” (a wooden traverse flute). “Bombarde” is a double reed woodwind instrument similar to the Iranian “Sorna (Zurna)”. Winner of many prizes since 1992, he had the occasion to play in several festivals in France, Germany, USA, UK, Kazakhstan,… He is teaching “Bombarde” in traditional musical schools in Bretagne.

PELLEN, Ronan:
   Ronan Pellen (1972) studied playing the Cello at the Rennes Conservatoire. Soon he discovered the secrets of the Irish bagpipe and Bretagne, Scottish and Irish’s traditional repertoires. In completion of his knowledge of traditional and folk music he also began to learn playing the “Cistre” (close to the Irish Bouzouki) in which he is a professional now. Ronan joined the Hamon-Martin quartet in 2002 and now the band has been transformed to a quintet.
